60 seconds with Daniel Gutierrez and Roberto Perera
On one of my journeys deep into the sacred valley of Peru, I was staying at Quilla Villa, a spiritual retreat center nestled in the Andes mountains facing the Pachasusan mountains. It is owned by dear friend Lydia Colón Perera, who has turned this once-rundown hacienda into a place of peace and tranquility.

One morning while having coffee, I asked her husband Roberto Perera, if he would like to record a 60-second meditation. He agreed, and we set out to record 60 seconds of the amazing sounds of his Paraguayan harp, backing my voice guiding you through spoken word.
This short meditation is designed for you to download to your phone, iPad, or any electronic device and use it when you need to just slow down for 60 seconds. In the hurry in this world, we can sometimes forget to give ourselves the time we need to be radically mindful in the moment. My loving belief, is that if you allow yourself to slow down, for just for 60 seconds, you might give yourself 120 seconds, and then 180 seconds, and then, before you know it, you are meditating for 5 minutes! We really hope you will enjoy this magical piece, just as much as we did recording it for you.

Roberto Perera is a Latin Grammy-nominated harpist. His romance with the Paraguayan harp began back in 1964, when the 12-year-old aspiring musician enrolled at the Conservatory of Modern Music in his hometown of Montevideo, Uruguay. His multicultural beginnings, no doubt played a part in his decision to embrace the 36-string Paraguayan harp and transform the native Latin American instrument to incorporate the influences of Latin, Pop, Jazz, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music. The transformation of this humble, handcrafted harp from its folks origins into one of contemporary instrumental music’s most commanding voices, has been nothing short of pure magic.

His music consists largely of change: shifting and combining musical types, rapidly improvising rhythms, and creating a unique blend that is simultaneously exotic, irresistible, and uplifting. He has shared the stage with artists like Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets, and Tito Puente, as well as recorded with Paquito D’Rivera and Raúl di Blasio, among others. Click here to learn more about Robert
